Economic and Public Policy Analysis

A decade of experience and participation in East Africa’s economic and public policy debates puts Serengeti Advisers at the center of knowledge and expertise on policy issues relating to domestic and regional growth and poverty elimination, investment climate and private sector development. Principal activities include:

Original Surveys
Serengeti Advisers, in partnership with Strategic Business Advisors of Kenya, conducts customized surveys, focused on the small business sector to inform the strategic thinking and action within the financial services industry, business associations and public institutions. High-level findings from these original surveys are made available to the public while detailed analysis can be tailored to meet specific client needs.

Scenario Analysis
Scenario analysis helps organizations “rehearse” their responses to policies in order that they are better able to anticipate any unforeseen events. Through scenario building, Serengeti Advisers offers long-range strategic planning conducted at the institutional, country and regional levels. Drawing on over a decade of scenario planning exercises in Kenya (1997), Tanzania (2003), Uganda (2004), South Africa (2004) and Nigeria (2007), Serengeti Advisers principals have assisted the UK’s Department for International Development (DfID) in Kenya, the World Bank in Tanzania, and the East African Community Secretariat to better understand their strategic environment and potential outcomes of their policies.
